Fat Loss For Idiots Jenny Craig ReviewThis commercial diet center has more than 645 locations around the world and thousands of female followers. It has been one of the leaders of the weight loss industry since 1983. The fundamentals of the center have been changed slightly to refresh the marketing.

The plans have included “Tune-Up”, “On-Track”, and “Rewards”. Tune Up (trial) is a tral membership that runs from 30-60 days and includes one on one consultations, menus, activities and motivation.  On Track (gold) is a longer plan that includes all of the above plus a personalized profile and weight loss success manuals. 

Rewards (platinum) offers a year of weight loss maintenance, the “On Track program." Plus product discounts, support, and increasing discounts for ongoing participation in the program. 

The Jenny Craig program sets you up for success right away.
  When entering the center dieters will fill out a profile to determine if the program is right for them.  Then they will meet with a representative to determine the ideal meal and fitness plan.  Meetings in the center are held each week to follow your progress with a counselor.  Now followers can arrange the visits via phone or website.  The plan requires purchases of “Jenny’s Cuisine”, prepackage meals.  They average from 11-15 dollars per day.

Jenny’s plan is based on balanced nutrition pyramid. This means 60% carbohydrates, 20% fat, 20% protein.  Client’s supplement their meals with fresh fruits and vegetable, whole grains, and reduced-fat dairy products.  The caloric content is 1200-1500 calories. 

Advising Jenny Craig is a medical advisory board with certified professionals in medicine, psychology and nutrition.
  The plan also includes a transition period where clients go from pre-packaged to regular meals. Clients are assisted by a journal, and a counselor, who is not    nutritionist or dietitian but a person trained by Jenny Craig.  They recommend exercise but do not make it a focus in the plan.

Famous Jenny Craig “losers” & spokespersons include Joy Behar, Kirstie Alley, Valerie Bertinelli and Queen Latifah.
 

 

What we like about this plan  Pre packaged food takes away the shopping, prep work and cooking out of your day.  Portions are controlled.  They have an established reputation.  There is private counselor and classes.  There are many food menu options. You can join Jenny for as little s 6.00 per week. 

 

Personalized activities and motivational plans help you get through the week. 


What we dislike about this plan  It is a low calorie diet that might be hard to sustain in the long run.  The transition period can be a challenge for many who have yet to master portion control or lifestyle management.  The food plan can get expensive.  Meetings can be hard for some to attend.  Some of the counselors can have little insight; this can vary from center to center.
 


How Healthy Is this Plan?  The plan is in accordance with the dietary guidelines for Americans, and is certainly well-balanced.  The calories fall on the low end of the safety zone, which might leave followers hungry between meals.  The problem again lies in the pre-packed meals.  They are engineered food, full of processed additives and preservatives.
The meals taste has come with average reviews.  It is important to keep this in mind before choosing to follow any prepackaged plan.
 


Here’s The Bottom Line  If you wish to lose weight fairly quickly, like the idea and convenience of pre packaged food, and are willing to come into the center for classes and support, Jenny Craig can get you on the right track.

Take full advantage of the entire center has to offer, especially the counselor’s support the company offers as you make the transition from Jenny’s Cuisine, to a healthy lifestyle of menu planning and preparation.  Support is critical to any endeavor, and Jenny does offer a high level of it.  If you are up for the long term commitment, Jenny Craig can be a great stepping stone.
