Phil is not a medical doctor but a self-help guru and a
psychologist with his own TV show. In 2003, he wrote
a book about weight loss and control. Dr. Phil broke
down his weight loss diet plan into "The 7 Keys to
Permanent Weight Loss.”
Keys 1 & 2 deal with the mental and emotional aspects of
making a positive lifestyle change. It deals with the
emotional issues that lead us to use food for reasons other
than for nutrients. Key 3 deals with getting control of
your environment, making it more weight loss plan friendly.
Basically he says to clean house and get rid of all the
stuff in your home that you know are not good for you and stock up
on healthy snacks and whole foods.
Next, in keys 4 and 5 he deals with habit control. Try to
replace your former, self-defeating habits with new
self-confirming habits. Gee, don’t we all mindlessly eat when
we walk in the door to relax? Key 6 deals with
getting fit though an exercise plan. He speaks about how
to begin a program even if you have just started, and how to
stay motivated to keep moving!
The final key, number 7 is Your Circle of Support.
Finding friends and associating with people with similar
beliefs who will encourage and even participate with you in
your journey to self-control will be a huge
help.

structure, that is up to you after your quizzes and charts let
you know where you stand in moving forward with your weight
loss goals. So if you are not savvy on nutrients and
caloric content this diet might be a struggle. The diets
cost is minimal unless you factor in the cost of
thebattery of nutritional
supplements for which can get costly. This diet is a lifestyle
plan, so weight loss is real but slow. This can be very
discouraging to a dieter looking to drop quick weight
loss.
How healthy Isthis plan? This diet is healthy for
both mind and body. It is not surprising that a
psychologist would speak from the emotional and mental issues
that cause us to be overeat and be overweight. Dr Phil
states in his book that losing weight is not easy, and we all
know it. His plan takes

weight slowly and he does not offer any miracle quick
fixes. It is a very healthy realistic guide to weight
loss issues and solutions.
