Cabbage Soup Diet
Review
Cabbage Soup
Diet Review - This is a very strict diet 7 day
diet with specific eating rules plus a recipe for
unlimited cabbage soup to consume daily, so you should not
be hungry during the week.
Day One - All-you-can-eat soup and fruit (no bananas).
Consume plenty of water, cranberry juice and unsweetened
tea. Day Two -
Consume all the soup and vegetables you like (no beans, peas or
corn) and a buttered baked potato with dinner. No fruit
today.
Day Three – Eat all the soup, fruits and vegetables you like,
nothing else. Day Four - Eat your soup, no more than
eight bananas and all the skim milk you want.
Day Five - Have at least one serving of soup today. You
can also have 10 -20 ounces of skinless chicken or beef
and no more than six tomatoes. Drink plenty of
water. Day Six - Eat plenty of vegetables and your
servings of beef. Today is the day you can go a bit
overboard with the meat (2 steaks if you like) - just make sure
to add salad and vegetables.
Day Seven - Have at least one serving of soup. Only eat
brown rice, vegetables and unsweetened fruit juice. The
diet is inexpensive, if you are reading this you basically have
all the info you need to begin. The origins of the diet are
unidentified, and it first gained popularity 1980s. The
cabbage soup diet has many names, usually linking the diet to a
mainstream institution, including the "Sacred Heart Diet",
"Military Cabbage Soup", "TJ Miracle Soup Diet", and "Russian
Peasant Diet". All of the institutions named have denied
a link with the diet. On some original documents
mentioning the diet, it was claimed the diet is designed for
obese heart-surgery patients, so they could lose weight quickly
and therefore be at lower risk of complications during surgery.
However, these claims remain
unverified.
Whatwe
like
this
plan. You
will lose weight
fast, so if you need to slip into that black dress for
next Saturday nite, this is for you. The diet is only for
seven days (and shouldn't be adhered to for longer), it
can provides a great "kick-start" for a more moderate
diet. According to the diet website, the cabbage Soup
Diet is packed with nutritious vegetables and fruit, and
is extremely low in fat. Many people say it's the
best rapid weight-loss program around. You will lose
weight.
Whatwe
dislike
about
this
plan. This is
a very poor weight loss plan. It is almost all water
loss, no real fat loss. People have
reported feeling light-headed, weak, and have suffered
from decreased concentration. Flatulence is also a
common side effect. If you’re going to torture
yourself with an unhealthy plan of cabbage soup on a
daily basis, you will have the wherewithal to eat a
normal healthy meal plan.
How healthy isthis plan? Absolutely not!
If you look up Fad Diet in the dictionary, there will be a
picture of cabbage soup! It is low in
calories,most of the
weight lost is water and not food, and therefore not
permanent. In addition, the recipe for the soup as often
given has extremely high sodium content, usually to make it
palatable, and the diet provides practically zero protein for
several days at a time. This diet is not
recommended.
Here’sThe
Bottom
Line.
If you are ignorant (or desperate enough) to try this
diet for only 7 days, you body will be no worse (and in
the long run no better). Remember, you should only go on this diet for one
week at a time, and then resume your normal eating
for at least two weeks. The cabbage soup diet is too
low in complex carbohydrates, protein, vitamins and
minerals to continue for longer than this. This is
never a solution for real long term weight loss and never
suitable for children or adolescents.
